Ordinary life, slightly off course.
B O O K S B Y E R I C C A T T
Comic British novels about sensible people, strange coincidences and the moment things stop making sense.
A quiet holiday. A new yoga habit. In Eric Catt’s books, the most unremarkable beginnings lead somewhere nobody could have planned — told with a straight face and a raised eyebrow.

O U T N O W
Partly true. Mostly fiction.
Tom Brewer goes to Positano for sunshine and a rest. He comes home with a puzzle: a chance meeting with a captivating Australian stranger, followed by messages from someone who won’t say who they are.
Moving between the Amalfi Coast and home, it’s a story of half-truths and second-guessing, written with a dry British wit — and drawn in part from something that really happened to the author.

The Secret Art of Navigation
Finding inner peace is difficult enough. Then a water sprite enters your life.
Eric is doing his best to stay calm: stretching, breathing, reading up on the Tao. His friends are not helping. Then along comes Twink, devotee of a yoga style she invented herself, who may not be entirely human. A gentle, odd and thoroughly British comedy about looking for balance in an unbalanced world.
Meet Eric Catt
Eric Catt lives and writes in London. His novels start somewhere familiar — a holiday, a friendship, a well-meant attempt at self-improvement — and then wander off somewhere stranger.
Expect understated humour, characters who don’t quite fit, a mystery or two, and the odd big question tucked in among the jokes.

-
In part. The idea came from a real meeting on the Amalfi Coast and the puzzling messages that arrived afterwards. Eric invented the rest, and leaves readers to decide where the line falls.
